Adobe Spark Pages-Advanced English 9

After attending a Lunch N' Learn on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, Ms. Tubbs provided a new learning opportunity for students.  There class has sixteen comma rules.  The students chose three random objects from a list that the teacher provided.  Students chose three numbers and analyzed how the numbers corresponded.  The students needed to include the three chosen items in their story.  Sentence number one needed to fit comma rule one (commas in a series); sentence two fit comma rule two, and so on.

All creations were completed on an iPad and sent via the "Website URL" assignment option in Canvas.

Global Issues Using Flipboard with Criteria and Implementation

Completed setting up Flipboard magazines with students this morning.  Mrs. Brylski set parameters for the entire semester. (See board picture) We also made students create a title, share the magazines with Mrs. Brylski so she could follow them and comment, and set their "cover page".

Google Docs, Slides, Sheets Templates Workflow on iPads

The Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets apps provides some great TEMPLATES for students to create something that will "show what they know".  All of the screenshots in the presentation below are from the iPad app.  While this was the workflow I used for Lunch N' Learn, all of the same template options are found on a computer.

The presentation above was created on Keynote on my iPad.  I "made a copy" of it and sent it to my Google Drive.  If you are desiring students to make Keynote presentations, this is the workflow to get the presentation to a teacher.  As blogged about earlier, I really like Keynote on my iPad while presenting.

IMPORTANT: Teachers must have students turn in any assignment in Canvas that requires a Google Doc, Slide, or Sheet to be submitted as a "File Upload" through Safari and not simply a "Website URL".  See poster below.

Copyright Free Music (SoundzAbound) To iPad

We have access to hundreds of copyright free music through SoundzAbound.  I created a Google Drive Folder with all of the files that students can easily access via their iPads.  They will choose the song they want and import it into their iMovie (see image).

Canvas Analytics

Last night, I conducted my first Apple Core session on Canvas Analytics.  I focused on two areas.

  • Course Analytics
  • Quiz (Test) Analytics
I truly believe the analytics from both sections can help with conversations as to why a student is or is not successful in the course.
